2008 EDAWN Committees and Groups

The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) provides exclusive opportunities for our members to take part in committees and groups. These committees and groups help EDAWN staff achieve our economic development mission and provides our members with the ability advance their own business through intimate networking opportunities.

Committees

Business Builders

The primary goals are to actively support efforts to keep local companies in the area and assist with expansion plans. Committee members become directly involved in strengthening and stabilizing the economic base of the community by conducting face-to-face interviews with selected high-level company leaders. Information collected by this working committee provides invaluable insight into the dynamics of the local economy.

Business Builders Certification

Certified committee members conduct face-to-face interviews with selected high-level company leaders within specific industries. Information collected by this working committee is then compiled into an aggregate report issued to both company and community leaders.

E-Team

This committee works to enhance EDAWN's membership involvement and engage with new businesses in the region. Active volunteers can expect to boost the value of their membership through networking opportunities. E-Team responsibilities will include targeting new members, increasing member retention by promoting and assisting with special events and engaging existing members to become more involved.

Industry Advisory Committee – New for 2008

This is a new committee for EDAWN in 2008. This committee will meet quarterly to review, discuss and help with the recruitment of Targeted Industries. Key outcomes for this committee include helping EDAWN staff secure meetings and visits with the targeted company leads and opportunities for recruiting both in and out of the region.

Marketing and Public Relations Committee

EDAWN’s Marketing and Public Relations Committee is instrumental in providing input to EDAWN staff regarding advertising, marketing and public relations efforts. Committee members provide valuable input to the EDAWN Marketing Plan by offering their ideas and business expertise.

Workforce Network Committee – New for 2008

This is a new committee for EDAWN in 2008. This committee will meet bi-monthly to review, discuss and help execute key workforce recruiting programs. Key outcomes for this committee include helping EDAWN staff secure funding partners and opportunities for recruiting both in and out of the region.

Groups

Key Prospects Circle (Gold and Platinum investors only)

These quarterly meetings will offer briefings on the key prospects that EDAWN is currently managing. While most of the companies require confidentiality so names cannot be released very often, you will get full detail on the companies who are considering relocating to northern Nevada or expanding here.

Real Estate Partners

EDAWN meets quarterly to discuss key issues facing commercial/industrial realtors, developers, contractors and construction companies. Topics include business trends, communications, customer demands, permitting and much more.

State & Local Government

The goal of the State and Local Government Group is to monitor issues relating to the Nevada Legislature, County Commissions, city councils and other governing bodies who deal with matters affecting the mission of EDAWN.
