Reno Hackathon

EDAWN was a proud sponsor of the inaugural Reno Hackathon put on this last weekend (March 2, 2013) in partnership with Microsoft and PC Doctor. The event attracted over 50 software developers to a 24 hour app developer hackathon where in total they published 31 applications to the Microsoft store. Participants won prizes ranging from cash to Windows phones with the 1st place app being a Zombie Game called Sticky Situation.

1St Place:  App – Sticky Situation (Zombie Game) $1000 Team name “Deep Games”
2nd Place: App – All Stream (Centralized streaming video viewer) $500 Team name “Chris”
3rd Place:  App – Type Shooter (Educational spelling game) $250 Team name “Daniel Z”

Best Phone
Anti-Cancer top down game killing cancer cells to play during chemo, with scrolling anti-cancer health tips. $200 Team name “A-Z Productions”

Best Game
Evaperoids, twist on the classic asteroids, but with artificial intelligence where the asteroids adapt as the game progresses. $200 Team name “Team Roids”

People’s Choice
All Stream (noted above)

Most Apps Developed
6 Windows 8 apps developed by “Team Metcalf” 5 Windows phones awarded to each member of that team.
