Brightpoint Opens Wireless Communications Logistics Center in Reno

Reno, Nev. (March 3, 2011) - - A leading third party logistics (3PL) provider to the U.S. wireless telecommunications and data industry is opening a supply chain logistics and distribution services facility in Reno employing 79 positions in its first year of operation. Brightpoint North America, Inc. purchased the former Pfizer building at 1025 Sandhill Road.

Based in Plainfield, Ind., Brightpoint North America employs approximately 2,100 people in the United States.  Brightpoint plans to hire a variety of positions at its Reno facility including operations director, operations supervisors, receiving specialists, material handlers, warehouse specialists and production assemblers.  Interested applicants should apply online at http://brightpoint.submit4jobs.com/.

The opening of the Brightpoint 3PL facility represents a projected $9,583,804 one-year economic impact to the region, and a five-year economic impact of $47,919,020.  It’s estimated that as a result of the new facility, a total of $2,770,317 in state and county taxes will be generated over the next five years of operation.

Brightpoint officials considered Utah and Nevada before deciding on Reno. “The business-friendly climate, cost of doing business, affordable real estate and incentive programs offered by the state all factored into our decision to select Reno over other regions,” said Chris Scott, vice president of strategic implementation.

Among the community partners that assisted in the opening of Brightpoint’s logistics center are: Jones Lang LaSalle, NAI Alliance, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), Wood Rodgers, Nevada Commission on Economic Development, City of Reno,  Washoe County and the Washoe County School District.
