Nominations Open for Second Annual
“Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work” Awards

Reno, Nev. (December 11, 2008) – Local companies looking to be recognized among the best employers in the region are invited to participate in the second annual “Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work” Awards.  Nominations for the “Best Places to Work” Awards are open until January 30, 2009.

Employees are encouraged to nominate an employer as a “Best Place to Work” if they feel their employer has created a positive work environment for them and their colleagues. The award nominations are open to any local company with 15 or more full-time (30 hours or more) employees. Nominate a company at http://www.edawn.org/about-edawn/best-places-to-work.

Once nominated, companies will receive an e-mail with the contest rules including a link to the employee online survey registration page which they’re asked to distribute among their employees.  Quantum Market Research, a national market research firm specializing in workplace satisfaction, and the exclusive research partner for Best Places to Work competitions throughout the United States, administers the “Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work” Awards program and employee survey. The employee survey evaluates each company on ten criteria including: team effectiveness, trust with coworkers, individual contributions, manager effectiveness and feeling valued within the organization, among others. The survey results are reported to and objectively analyzed by Quantum .

Finalists and winning companies are determined solely from the highest total employee survey scores. Winners of the “Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work” Awards will be announced in April 2009.

“Winners and finalists of the Best Places to Work Awards typically have a competitive advantage in worker recruitment because the company is endorsed as a great place to work by those who know best, their employees.” said Gail Conkey, director of marketing for the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), one of the awards’ sponsors.

Greater Reno-Tahoe joins more than 41 communities across the nation in recognizing the best local employers in the region. Last year more than 120 local companies participated in the local awards program.

The “Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work” Awards are co-sponsored by EDAWN, the Northern Nevada Human Resources Association (NNHRA) and the Reno Gazette-Journal.
