Nevada is the top state on the Forbes American Dream Index “based on its recent momentum is Nevada, which scored 108.8.

Nevada rates highly thanks to the strong levels of construction and startup activity, along with gains in goods-producing jobs.” The American Dream Index is based on seven metrics: bankruptcies, building permits (the level and recent trend), goods-producing jobs, labor participation rate, layoffs, startup activity and unemployment insurance claims. Help Us Attract Talent to the Region – WhyReno.org –

As we approach full employment, there will be few remaining unemployed to fill the 30,000 new jobs projected in the next 3-5 years.  We will rely on Nevadan’s coming home, graduates from our education institutions and newcomers to our community. Attracting talent is where you can help! WhyReno.org is a new toolkit that contains information including pictures and videos, with recent area rankings and national media stories. Invite a friend from the Bay Area to move to Reno-Sparks.

Attraction of talent to our region is key to our revitalization going forward and if you have a friend in the Bay Area, they may be ready to consider a move. “Choked by traffic and overwhelmed by skyrocketing housing costs, 40 percent of Bay Area residents and 46 percent of millennials hunger to flee the region in the next few years, according to a new poll that sketches a forbidding outlook for the area.” Here is the news article.

We need your help to clean up our taxi-tops so please consider adding taxi-top advertising to your marketing plan now and in the years ahead. We have 25 taxi-tops available and if we cannot keep the taxi-tops filled with family friendly messages, they will revert to those that are less reflective of the “new” Reno-Sparks. Business Development

The Business Development team announced 2 new companies to the region and the addition of more than 250 jobs.

  • GBS Enterprises, distributor of bed protection and bed cleaning products, 140 jobs, from NE to Reno.
  • Confidential, manufacturer, 117 jobs, headquarters from CA to McCarran, NV.
10 site visits were hosted in March that included multiple client presentations and property tours.
21 new leads and projects were added to the Activity Pipeline.
The BD Team met with 44 site consultants this month.
Stan Thomas will be attending the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) on April 8th-12th, 2017.
