Ozmen Ventures Launches $5 Million Fund to Spark Local Entrepreneurial Ecosystem!

Ozmen Ventures has announced its launch as one of the first early-stage investment funds in northern Nevada. Founded by Eren and Fatih Ozmen, owners of Sparks-based Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), a global aerospace and defense company, the fund aims to invest in young and dynamic local startups and cultivate the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. Ozmen Ventures is a seed and early-stage venture capital fund headquartered in Reno. The fund has already made an investment in ClickBio, an innovator in the laboratory consumables industry. 4th Annual Journalism School Hackathon

Can journalism and communications schools help shape the next generation of media entrepreneurs? Many schools have created special “labs” and innovation centers and are running courses aimed at building startups – and a startup mentality. But how can they share knowledge, improve skills and have fun doing it? We’re convening a group of top students (graduates and undergraduates), faculty and professionals for the weekend Hackathon, with a real-world mission of creating startups around bots and chatbots. Students will have a chance to collaborate on diverse teams of students with faculty and pro facilitators.
