More great media about our region:

Sierra Living Magazine had a great article on The Rise of Reno. “With a growing Midtown District and Riverwalk area, companies like Tesla setting up shop, and an ever-expanding university, Reno is gambling on a new kind of boom.” Here is the Sierra Magazine Article. Realtor.com also had a great article about Reno as third in the Nation for cities with the highest percentage of residents moved into their homes since 2010. “The place is fast becoming a high-tech manufacturing hub.” Realtor.com article

An Excellent Blog talks about Bombora’s recent move to Reno.

“The Road West for Bombora: Made in NYC; Made better in Reno,” was written by David Hartman.  “Rob Armstrong, co-founder of Bombora, was looking to expand R&D operations westward from their Manhattan headquarters. The company, founded in 2014, is a startup in the AdTech sector providing B2B demographic and intent data for marketers worldwide.”  Rob summed things up nicely when he said, “Yes, the numbers make the case and tell the story but, beyond a fiscal discussion, Reno has become the home I was hoping to find.” Here is their blog.

The EPIC Report with Actual Numbers updated.

Now over two years into the five year EPIC report projections of over 52,400 new jobs, we are still on track as Tesla, Panasonic and Switch start to ramp up their hiring efforts. Here are Actual Numbers Graphs.

In case you missed the latest RGJ article – The Housing Sky is Falling.

In July of 2015, yes over 18 months ago, I wrote an article titled. “The Impending Housing Crisis”. That article talked about the 50,000 new jobs we were expecting in the region and the 30,000 to 40,000 new housing units we would need to accommodate that growth. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, we have added more than 20,000 new jobs since then but added just 4,000 new housing units over the same 18 months. This is a problem! Here is the article.
Prior EDAWN articles, published in the RGJ, are stored on our website.

Help!!  Taxi-Tops are still available!

Please consider adding taxi-top advertising to your marketing plan now and in the years ahead. We recently had 30 taxi-tops open up and if we cannot keep the taxi-tops filled with family friendly messages they will revert to those that are less reflective of the “new” Reno-Sparks. Just $1,000 for the entire year!  Contact Tamera Pitts at 775.829.3700 or email pitts@edawn.org.

Business Development

The Business Development Team announced that Online Labels.com (Project Online) recently relocated from FL and is adding 15 new jobs to the region.

The company’s new light manufacturing plant is located in Sparks. Online Labels is a “one-stop source” for laser, inkjet, thermal and custom printed labels.

Site visit activity ramped up quickly in February, hosting 13 companies and meetings with four site consultants.

24 new Leads and Projects were added to the pipeline.

Stan Thomas and Chris Ault, Jr. will be attending the Site Selectors Conference in Tucson, AZ March 13th – 15th.
