The University of Nevada, Reno Career Studio is sponsoring a Spring Career and Internship Expo on February  9th, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Joe Crowley Student Union ballroom. Employers are encouraged to participate and can register here.

In November Truckee Meadows Community College was named a 2017 Military Friendly® School. The designation was awarded by Victory Media, publisher of “G.I. Jobs®,” and “Military Spouse.” On Dec. 2, TMCC was awarded with an additional honor – the Bronze award – for being a community college with outstanding programs and support for veterans and their families. Each year the list of Military Friendly® Schools is provided to service members and their families, in order to help them select the best college, university, or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career. For more information on the award and TMCC’s programs to serve military veterans, please see the attached media release.

TMCC Graphic Communication Students collaborate with EDAWN to design a new graphic to make the community aware, in a non-traditional way, of the abundance of higher-paying jobs opening in the region. Read more here.

UNR Extended Studies has created a new Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification Program beginning in February 2017. It is applicable for leadership, management and employees in any industry (not just manufacturing), including healthcare, construction, government services, IT and more.

Homeownership can be closer than you think.  The Nevada Housing Division is pleased to offer great homebuyer programs and savings to low and middle income Nevadans. Its “Home Is Possible” program provides thousands in bonus money for homebuyers to put toward a down payment or closing costs. Homebuyers get up to 5% of the home loan value in the form of a grant which doesn’t have to be paid back. Homebuyers can check out the details of the programs, and then get started by finding an approved lender at the Housing Division website.
