Garlock Printing & Converting Corporation and EDAWN Announce 175 Jobs in Reno, Nev. New flexographic printer moves west, seeking to fill high paying jobs RENO, Nev. (March 24th, 2014) - Garlock Printing & Converting Corporation and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) announced the opening of a new flexographic printing facility in Reno, Nev. at their location off Woodland Avenue. The move will bring approximately 175 jobs to Reno throughout the next five years, including 17 jobs within the first six months.

Truly Good Foods Brings Jobs to Reno, Nev.

A new distribution center moves into Nevada Reno, Nev., (March 10, 2014) - Reno is soon to be home to a new food distribution center for an established company with over 3,000 items in their product line. Truly Good Foods is opening a distribution center expecting to employ up to 15 local residents in five years.

Governor Celebrates Entrepreneurial Job Growth in Downtown Reno

RENO, Nev., February 28, 2014 - The Reno Collective and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) recognized 4 new startup companies located in Downtown Reno for their innovative ideas and job growth. Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval joined Mike Kazmierski, CEO of EDAWN, at the Reno Collective co-working space to congratulate these startups on creating new businesses from scratch. Between the 4 companies over 20 jobs have been created within the past year and all are projected to double their employment in the coming year.

EDAWN Announces Three Additions to 2013-2014 Board of Trustees and Four New Officers

Reno, Nev., (January 10, 2014) The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) welcomes new members to its 2013-2014 Board of Trustees and four new officers. Steve Anderson, First Vice President of RBC Wealth Management begins his term as the EDAWN Board Chair. Leigh Goddard with McDonald Carano Wilson LLP former EDAWN Board Secretary will assume position as Vice Chair. Phyllis Freyer, Vice President of Renown Health has been named Board Secretary and Stuart Brady, Senior Vice President of Business Banking for Wells Fargo was elected Treasurer. In addition to the officer changes, Frank Lepori of Frank Lepori Construction Inc. and Chris Reed with OnTrac joined the EDAWN Board as Presidential Gold Investors along with the following elected positions: Jim Annis, President of Applied Staffing Solutions, Jim Emme, President of NOW Foods, and Stephanie Tyler President of AT&T Nevada.

OLE Mexican Foods and EDAWN Announce 350 Jobs in Reno, Nevada

New food manufacturer bringing largest job announcement of the fiscal year RENO, Nev. (Dec. 12, 2013) - OLE Mexican Foods and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Reno, Nevada at a press conference today at John Ascuaga's Nugget. The move will bring approximately 350 manufacturing and distribution jobs to Reno in the next few years.

$3.2 million grant to bolster TMCC manufacturing, mining programs

The U.S. Department of Labor announced Wednesday it has awarded Truckee Meadows Community College a $3.2 million grant to support academic programs that will train skilled workers for jobs in manufacturing and mining. “This is a wonderful shot in the arm,” Maria Sheehan, president of TMCC, said. “What we have been most fearful about is losing the capabilities to support our technology programs.” The Labor Department awarded a total of nearly $8.8 million to TMCC, Western Nevada Community College in Carson City and Great Basin College in Elko to expand academic programs to fill jobs in industries where the demand for workers is high. Western Nevada was awarded $1.5 million. The largest of the three grants was $4 million given to Great Basin College.

Reno, Nev. (September 17, 2013) - EDAWN's Non-Profit Foundation Launches "Taxi-Top" Advertising Campaign Local business leaders attended a Press Conference this morning to launch the "Taxi-Top" initiative, as the first part of a much broader business marketing approach. The EDAWN Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), has worked with business owners and community leaders to replace 66 existing advertising spaces with Whittlesea Checker Taxi, Inc.

Company Announces New Headquarters, 25 jobs in Greater Reno-Sparks-Tahoe: Lincoln Cutting Systems

Reno, Nev. (September 12, 2013) - Lincoln Electric Cutting Systems has established corporate headquarters operations in Reno, Nev. The company will manage all corporate functions from its new location with plans to create 25 jobs through the relocation and expansion of Vernon Tools. Local business leaders welcomed company Vice President of Operations, Jeff Bennett, at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino during a sustainability luncheon for the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN).
