The BRE&W Development team visited 9 companies during December and made 3 Business to Business connections, in addition to making 13 connections to education partners and 8 connections to internship programs. Did you know that internship programs exist at the High School, Community College and University levels? Internship programs increase awareness of your company and help you create a pipeline of future employees. Internships can serve as an “in depth interview”, allowing companies to learn about candidates’ skill sets and cultural fit prior to hiring them full time.

On the workforce development and attraction front, EDAWN launched a Pandora campaign, effective January 1st, in 3 markets outside the area to get listeners to “Rethink Reno” as a place for a career. The spot highlights the assets of the community and the many opportunities in multiple sectors that exist for employees at all levels. In the first week of the campaign, over 250 people went to the RethinkReno.com site to learn more about our area as a great place to live, work and play.

Many in our community don’t know how to take the first step towards employment or where to go for assistance. EDAWN has created a simple and easy cartoon guide to get people on the right path. This will be distributed widely throughout the community and is already posted on the Nevada 2-1-1 site, a program of the Financial Guidance Center, which is committed to helping Nevada Citizens connect with the services they need.  Go here to view the guide.
