Business Retention | Expansion | Workforce Development

October was a busy month for the BREWD team with the Existing Industry Awards and the trip to Austin, Texas

to spread the word about engineering employment opportunities in the region, at the Society of Women Engineers Conference. Thank you to the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa which hosted the awards event, to our sponsors, judges and EDAWN staff who helped make the event a success, and to all of you who attended! Congratulations to all our nominees and to the winners listed on the EDAWN website.
Do you have a friend or relative that is graduating soon and looking for opportunities in the region?
Here are some tips for seekers that you can pass along to those inside or outside the region. See their flyer here.

Have you thought about hiring interns, but weren’t sure where to go?

The good news is there are resources at the University, Community Colleges and the Washoe County School District that can assist. Check them out on page 7 of the Employer Workforce Resource Guide!  While you are there, post a position or two on the TMCC or UNR job board, and review all the other community resources that can assist with workforce development.

Do you know someone who recently moved or returned to the area for a position at one of the many great existing or new companies in the region?

If so, please extend a warm welcome to them and help them to learn about the region and connect with resources in the region. Invite them out to your favorite restaurant or activity, and encourage them to take a look at the RSCVA website which has great information for both visitors and new residents.

Are you a member of an organization which holds their meetings elsewhere around the country?

Don’t forget that the RSCVA team is ready and able to help you bring one of those meetings to the region. Be a Superhero and help the RSCVA attract meetings and conventions to our area. For more information, go here.
